Welcome to the Newtown Front Porch Neighborhood Revitalization Council, Incorporated web site. The Council is just as the name indicates; a group of concerned citizens that are committed to the revitalization of the geographic area within the Newtown community that has been designated by the State of Florida as a Governor’s Front Porch Neighborhood. In 1999, Governor Jeb Bush established the Front Porch program for the purpose of empowering and assisting communities with the revitalization of their neighborhoods. Through a collaborative effort of citizens, government and the business community, the Newtown neighborhood was able to submit a successful application in the 2002 competition and was honored to have Governor Bush personally visit our community and award the designation and a check for $100,000.00. Since then much has been done to improve housing, jobs, infrastructure and the overall quality of life for the citizens of Sarasota living in the Front Porch neighborhood. Come inside and learn more about “A New Beginning”.
